While visiting in Coatesville, Mrs. Annie Jones Mowday, widow of John C. Mowday, of this place, contracted pneumonia a week ago and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Hartranft, Coatesville, on Tuesday. Mrs. Mowday was in her 81st year and had lived here for many years, her husband having died ten years ago. She was a faithful, long-time member of the Presbyterian Church, of this place, and her greatest efforts in church activities were in the Missionary Society, to which she remained a conscientiously faithful long after she was unable to attend the meetings. She was a woman of kindly disposition, always disposed to do a good act and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew her.
The following children survive her: Jennie, wife of Wm. Hartranft, and William, of Coatesville, and George, of this place, with whom she lived. There are also a number of grandchildren, as well as brothers and sisters: Levi Jones, Norristown; Reuben Jones, St. Peter's; Mrs. Eliza McCannon, Barneston; Mr. Wm. Plank and Mrs. Retta Fry, of Reading, and Mrs. Emma Reifsnyder, Norristown, and it is worthy of note that her twin sister, Mrs. Margaret Stauffer, of Reading, also survives.

The funeral of Mrs. John C. Mowday, one of Parkesburg's well known women, was held from the home of her son, George W. Mowday, 117 East Main street, on Saturday. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. W. Potter VanTries, of the Presbyterian Church, who spoke of the kindly attributes of the deceased. Mrs. John Ross Owens, Mrs. C.K. Hallowell and H.C. Miller sang "Asleep in Jesus".
The Church Circle sent a beautiful floral tribute and a wax wreath:chrysanthemums and other flowers were sent by friends.
The pall-bearers were chosen by the deceased woman four years ago during a revere (sic) illness and served with one exception, the absentee's place being filled by another. The bearers were: Sanford Mowday, John Wallace, John Clarke, J.A. McEvoy, <a href"https://genealogy.mikehelms.org/getperson.php?personIDI85&treehelms">Hiram Strop</a> and Walter Hartranft.
A remarkable feature of the funeral was the presence of Mrs. Mowday's surviving twin sister, Mrs. Margaret Stauffer, of Reading, now in her 81st year. Of her survivors are five aged sisters and two brothers, all of whom attended the funeral except one sister, Mrs. Eliza McCannon, of Barnston.
